Regular Season Round 23: Iskra Svit - Handlova 113-108

Very expected game when 8th ranked Handlova (5-17) was defeated on the road by third ranked Iskra Svit (13-9) 113-108. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Iskra Svit players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. It was an exceptional evening for guard Adam Moncek (190-2000) who led the winners and scored 16 points and 9 assists. American guard Xavier Smith (193, college: CWU) accounted for 22 points for the winning side. Iskra Svit's coach Oleg Meleshchenko used entire bench in such tough game. American swingman Elizjah Scott (198-1999, college: LMU) came up with 29 points and 5 rebounds and Montenegrin Danilo Aranitovic (203-1998) added 17 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Handlova in the defeat. Five Iskra Svit and four Handlova players scored in double figures. Iskra Svit have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain third place with 13-9 record having five points less than leader Spisski Rytieri. Handlova lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. Iskra Svit will play against league's leader Spisski Rytieri in Nova Ves in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Handlova will play at home against Lucenec (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
