Regular Season Round 16: Saule - Birzu 117-77

Very predictable result when fourth ranked Saule (10-5) rolled over 10th ranked Birzu (3-12) in Siauliai 117-77 on Tuesday. The hosts trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 117-77. Saule dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Birzu's 40. Saule forced 20 Birzu turnovers and outrebounded them 54-42 including 18 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Birzu's players. The winners were led by Joris Kacinskas (-2005) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 27 points and 17 rebounds and point guard Deividas Zukauskas (162-2005) supported him with 33 points (!!!) and 4 assists. Four Saule players scored in double figures. Saule's coach Arunas Kacerauskas felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 26 points and 8 rebounds by guard Dovydas Kacinskas (185-2005) did not help to save the game for Birzu. Danas Rauka (-2005) added 12 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Saule maintains fourth position with 10-5 record. Birzu lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with 12 games lost. Saule will meet Marijampoles (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Birzu will play against Tornado KM and hope to secure a win.
