Regular Season Round 23: Hamm - Hagen-Haspe 95-81

There was an upset when higher ranked Hagen-Haspe (12-10) was defeated on the road by eleventh ranked Hamm (10-12) 95-81 on Saturday. Hamm outrebounded Hagen-Haspe 45-30 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Hamm especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. The best player for the winners was center Jascal Knoerig (206-2000) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 17 rebounds. Naturalized Bosnian forward Mateo Zovko (193-1998, college: Laramie CC) chipped in 22 points and 5 assists. Hamm's coach Ivan Rosic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American swingman Ricardo Artis II (198-1993, college: Wiley) produced a double-double by scoring 32 points and 10 rebounds and Dutch point guard Sven Cikara (188-2001, agency: One Motive Sports) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Hamm moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Stuttgart MVT. Loser Hagen-Haspe keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. They share it with Lich Basketball and Bonn 2. Hamm will meet higher ranked BSV Wulfen (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hagen-Haspe will play against Hertener Loewen and hope to secure a win.
