Rather predictable result when seventh ranked M.Raanana (12-10) beat at home 11th ranked M.Rehovot (7-15) 101-96 on Tuesday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. M.Raanana made 21-of-23 free shots (91.3 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when M.Raanana made 11 blocks. The game was dominated by American players. Swingman Jason Siggers (194-1985, college: Albany, agency: Avi Zilberman) scored 41 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (made all of his thirteen free throws !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and forward Jalen Canty (203-1995, college: UCSB, agency: Haylett Sports) chipped in 20 points, 8 rebounds and 7 blocks (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) during the contest. At the losing side power forward Brandon Sherrod (198-1992, college: Yale) responded with 28 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and swingman Brent Jackson (193-1994, college: Columbus St.) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. M.Raanana maintains seventh position with 12-10 record. M.Rehovot lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the twelfth place with 15 games lost. M.Raanana will meet at home H.Hevel Modi'in (#13) in the next round where they are favorite. M.Rehovot will play against M.Haifa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
