Regular Season Round 21: Kipina - Kristika Turku 106-91

Everything went according to plan in Aanekoski where fourth ranked Kipina (14-7) beat bottom-ranked Kristika Turku (4-16) 106-91 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Kipina. Kristika Turku managed to win second period 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kipina dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Kristika Turku's 38. Kipina forced 23 Kristika Turku turnovers and had a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Chris Paul (199, college: St.Anselm) who had a triple-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists. His fellow American import guard Brian Cameron (188-1997, college: Wesley) chipped in 28 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 8 steals. Cameron is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Kipina's coach Joni Hautsalo used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Teemu Sulonen (188-1994) who recorded 28 points and 7 assists and swingman Lauri Tuomela (192-1994) added 14 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kipina have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Huima. Kristika Turku lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 16 games lost. Kipina will meet ToPo Juniorit (#5) in the next round. Kristika Turku will play against Kouvot Ak. (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
