Regular Season Round 24: Amyntas - Maroussi 88-64

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Maroussi (16-8) in Athens on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by fourteenth ranked Amyntas (9-15) 88-64. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Maroussi. Amyntas shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 53.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Maroussi's players. It was a good game for American-Argentinian forward Donovan Johnson (201-1992, college: KWC) who led his team to a victory with 28 points and 5 rebounds. Athanasios Grekas (196-1996) contributed with 8 points and 9 assists for the winners. Point guard Orfeas Stasinos (183-1988) replied with 15 points and 5 assists and Vasileios Stavrakoukas (191-2001, agency: Octagon Europe) added 13 points in the effort for Maroussi. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Amyntas moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Agriniou. Maroussi at the other side still keeps top position with eight games lost. They share it with Psychikou. Amyntas is looking forward to face higher ranked Iraklis (#6) in Thessaloniki in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Maroussi will play at home against Koroivos (#7) and is hoping to win this game.
