Regular Season Round 26: Amyntas - Charilaos 79-72

There was a minor upset in Athens where 11th ranked Charilaos (11-14) was defeated by thirteenth ranked Amyntas (10-16) 79-72 on Saturday. Amyntas dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Charilaos' 24. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Power forward Efstratios Kalogerias (208-1997, college: Norfolk St.) had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American-Argentinian forward Donovan Johnson (201-1992, college: KWC) chipped in 25 points during the contest. Amyntas' coach Demetris Liogas used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American point guard TJ Washington (183-1998, college: Utah Valley) responded with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and swingman Ioannis Molfetas (194-1992) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from downtown making all six shots !!!). Four Charilaos players scored in double figures. Amyntas moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Agriniou. Loser Charilaos keeps the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Amyntas will meet at home higher ranked Koroivos (#7) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Charilaos will play against Aias Evosmou (#14) and hope to secure a win.
