There was a minor upset when 9th ranked E.Kiryat Ata (9-17) was defeated at home by eleventh ranked Hapoel Haifa (8-18) 97-83 on Thursday. Hapoel Haifa looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. Guard Isaiah Cousins (193-1994, college: Oklahoma) fired 24 points and 7 assists for the winners. Point guard Anthony Hickey (180-1992, college: OK State, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 22 points and 6 assists. Swingman Chavaughn Lewis (195-1993, college: Marist) produced 22 points and 5 assists and forward Amin Stevens (203-1990, college: FAMU) added 18 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hapoel Haifa maintains eleventh position with 8-18 record. Newly promoted E.Kiryat Ata keeps the ninth place with 17 games lost. They share the position with H.Eilat. Hapoel Haifa will meet at home bottom-ranked Gilboa Galil (#12) in the next round. E.Kiryat Ata will play against Bnei Hasharon in Hod Hasharon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
