Top ranked Maccabi Tel-Aviv (21-5) recorded its fifth loss on the court of third ranked Hapoel Jerusalem on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Hapoel Jerusalem 83-76. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was point guard Kenneth Smith (190-1993, college: Louisiana Tech) who scored 17 points and 7 assists. Center Zachary Hankins (211-1996, college: Xavier) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Wade Baldwin IV (193-1996, college: Vanderbilt) produced 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Jarell Martin (208-1994, college: LSU) added 18 points respectively for the guests. Four Hapoel Jerusalem and five Maccabi Tel-Aviv players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hapoel Jerusalem (20-7) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain third place behind leader Bnei Hertzeliya. Maccabi Tel-Aviv at the other side still keeps top position with five games lost.
