Regular Season Round 2: Bursa - Cankaya 102-73

Bursa used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Ankara 102-73 on Monday night. Bursa dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Cankaya's 30. They outrebounded Cankaya 48-18 including a 17-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Bursa looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. German forward Tuba Poyraz (184-2001) had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 16 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American-Lebanese forward Trinity Baptiste (183-1998, college: Arizona) chipped in 20 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Bursa players scored in double figures. American guard Brooke McCarty-Williams (163-1995, college: Texas) responded with 39 points (!!!), 6 assists and 5 steals and Swedish swingman Nathalie Fontaine (188-1993, college: Ball St.) scored 9 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Bursa will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Cankaya's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Ankara Nesibe.
