Regular Season Round 3: Recklinghausen - Leverkusen 2 99-93

Recklinghausen used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Leverkusen 99-93 on Saturday night. Recklinghausen forced 21 Leverkusen 2 turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. Recklinghausen looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Zachary Hinton (201-1994, college: Rocky Mountain) who scored 29 points and 5 rebounds. Point guard Niklas Meesmann (186-1998) chipped in 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Recklinghausen players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Thomas Michel (200-1995) who recorded a double-double by scoring 42 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 5 assists and center Jonas Gottschalk (218-1998) added 9 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Recklinghausen will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Leverkusen 2 will play against Hagen-Haspe (#4) and hope to win that game.
