Regular Season Round 1: Giannena - Olympiacos 60-88

Very significant was Olympiacos' 28-point road victory against Giannena 88-60. Olympiacos dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Giannena's 20. Olympiacos forced 20 Giannena turnovers and outrebounded them 39-23 including 27 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Giannena's players. Latvian center Kristine Vitola (196-1991, college: UTEP) nailed 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and American swingman Brooque Williams (172-1989, college: California, PA) accounted for 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Olympiacos' coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Anacia Wilkinson (188-1997, college: Tenn Tech) came up with 18 points and 8 rebounds and Cypriot center Elena Pilakouta (190-2000, college: Omaha) added 10 points respectively for Giannena in the defeat. Four Giannena players scored in double figures. Olympiacos will play against Iraklis in Thessaloniki in the next round. Giannena will play on the road against Eunikos in Liosa to get more than just one victory in their record.
