Regular Season Round 4: Poissy - Quimper 62-79

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Quimper UJAP and 5th ranked Poissy had identical 2-1 record. But Poissy was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Quimper 79-62 on Saturday night. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Quimper UJAP dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Poissy's 24 and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Poissy 40-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. Kenyan-American forward Joel Awich (201-1993, college: Cal Poly) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Antoine Wallez (205-1996) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws). Swiss guard Noah Burrell (193-1997) produced 17 points and 5 assists and American-Nigerian forward Anthony Elechi (203-1993, college: Morehead St.) added 17 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Quimper UJAP (3-1) keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 8 other teams. Newly promoted Poissy keeps the fifth place with two games lost. They share the position with 10 other teams. Quimper UJAP will meet at home league's leader Tours in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Poissy will play against Lorient (#12) and hope to secure a win.
