Regular Season Round 3: Sloga P. - Banovici 98-41

The game between closely ranked teams ended with Serbian Sloga P.'s (2-1) home victory over Bosnian Banovici (0-3) in Pozega 98-41 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Sloga P. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Banovici to just 3 points in fourth quarter. Sloga P. dominated down low during the game scoring 82 of its points in the paint compared to Banovici's 26. Sloga P. forced 35 Banovici turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Banovici's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Sloga P. made 7 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for center Natasa Filipovic (174-1991) who led the winners and scored 20 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Marina Karalic (182-1994) accounted for 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Five Sloga P. players scored in double figures. American forward Nadia Thorman-McKey (180, college: Tuskegee) came up with 18 points and 7 rebounds and center Ajla Ikanovic (192-1999) added 9 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Banovici in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sloga P. will meet Montana on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Banovici will play against Niksic and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
