Regular Season Round 3: Kipina - Honka 74-80

Another exciting game was played in Aanekoski between Honka and Kipina where Honka (3-0) beat Kipina (2-1) on the road 80-74. Kipina was ahead by 13 points at the halftime before a 46-27 second half run of Honka. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Kipina to just 3 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Kipina 48-37 including 17 on the offensive glass. Kipina was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for the former international Tuukka Kotti (205-1981, college: Providence) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 22 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Riku Korhonen (195-2004) contributed with 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Honka players scored in double figures. American point guard Coryon Mason (181-1999, college: ACU) answered with 21 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and Lauri Jantti (202-1998) added 19 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Kipina. Kipina's coach Joni Hautsalo tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Honka will play against RaPy (#7) in Tampere in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Kipina will play at home against HNMKY and hopes to get back on the winning track.
