An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Montana. First ranked SlovenianCelje faced 3rd placed Bulgarian Montana . Guests from Celje (16-1) smashed host Montana (7-7) 80-54 . It looked good early as Montana took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Celje had a 22-14 second period charge getting the lead and Montana was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 54-80. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Montana to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Celje dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Montana 's 14. Celje forced 23 Montana turnovers and outrebounded them 45-28 including 32 on the defensive glass. Brazilian forward Thayna Silva (180-1996) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. Canadian forward Niyah Becker (188-2000, college: Wake Forest) contributed with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. Celje's coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Mikaela Damyanova (190-2003) answered with 14 points and 6 rebounds and guard Yanina Todorova (178-1999, college: Fresno St.) added 6 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Montana. Celje have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending Slovenian champion maintains first place with 16-1 record. Montana at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost.
