Regular Season Round 30: Den Helder K. - Groningen 89-101

In Den Helder, Hanzevast Capitals found themselves in a battle versus struggling BlueStream Seals, first with a bad start in the 1st quarter, but a gallant 4th quarter effort by PG Torey Thomas bailed them out, with Hanzevast winning for the second time this week, by the score of 101-89. BlueStream Seals spotted Hanzevast to a lead of 16-2, and after a timeout Hanzevast closing the lead to 29-20 at the end of the 1st. It would remain close from there on out, with BlueStream Seals leading 82-81 at the halfway mark of the 4th quarter. But from that point on, the balance of power shifted to the guests, as Thomas emerged from the telephone booth with his Superman cape on and came to the rescue for Hanzevast. Thomas would put on a show, scoring 10 of his 17 4th quarter points in the last five minute span to help Hanzevast take the lead at 91-82 and thwarted BlueStream's upset hopes. Thomas led all scorers with 27 pts., leading five Hanzevast players in double figures. Hanzevast's bench also did its job, contributing 41 pts., and also shot 60% FG and 9 of 19 from the three-point line. With the win, Hanzevast wins its second straight this week, and tied for 2nd place in the FEB with Eiffel Towers at 17-10. (Sanders Jackson)
