Regular Season Round 42: Groningen - Den Bosch 89-63
Date: April 15, 2009
Tuesday night in the Martiniplaza in the Hanzevast Capitals-Eiffel Towers matchup, Hanzevast needed to win over Eiffel Towers by at least a +23 point margin in order to still have a shot at 2nd place heading into the FEB playoffs in case of a regular season ending tie. The team of head coach Marco van den Berg obtained that goal and then some, with a good 1st quarter start catapulting Hanzevast to an 89-63 blowout win. Hanzevast led 19-9 at the end of the 1st quarter and won every quarter of the game. Hanzevast made half of their shots from the field, plus made 16 three-pointers with the defense doing the job in holding Eiffel to only 37.1% FG. Julian Khazzouh led a well balanced Hanzevast scoring attack (six in double figures) with a double-double of 24 pts. and 11 rebounds. Khazzouh also had five blocked shots. Anthony Richardson led Eiffel with 18 pts. and 11 rebounds. In order for Hanzevast to topple Eiffel for 2nd place in the final standings, it will need some help from ZZ Leiden on Saturday night, plus must win on Saturday on the road at West-Brabant Giants.
