In the Sporthallen-Zuid #1 seeded Eclipse Jet/MyGuide began in defense of their FEB title with a 73-67 win over #8 seeded ZZ Leiden. Eclipse Jet/MyGuide managed to keep ZZ at arm's length throughout the game, with good field goal shooting and the strong inside play of two-time FEB MVP Peter Van Paassen, who scored a game-high 22 pts. and had 9 rebounds. He ws aided by the wing combination of ace Teddy Gipson (16 pts.) and Orien Greene who scored 15 pts. ZZ, who could not demand the respect from the three-point line (only 1 for 12 total), were led by David Chiotti with 21 pts. and 13 rebounds. Eclipse Jet/MG has a chance to sweep the series on Saturday night in Leiden. (by Sanders Jackson)
