Preliminary Round Day 1: VENEZUELA - ARGENTINA 85-69

Venezuela opened the FIBA Americas Championship in style. Both teams are placed to Group B, together with Brazil, Dominican Republic and Panama, so Venezuelans jumped to 1-0 at the very beginning, while Argentina is on 0-1. The winner had couple of players in a game mood today, but the best one was Oscar Torres, who drained 22 points and pulled down 6 rebounds. Hector Romero followed him with 19 pts and 5 boards, while Richard Lugo added 12 pts. Rafael Perez was the last one with double-digits in scoring - 10 pts. Argentina got the most from big guy Luis Scola - 25 pts and 7 boards. Pablo Prigioni netted 10 pts and handed out 6 assists. Tomorrow, Venezuela will meet Brazil. Argentina will have a day-off.
