Qualifying Round Day 8: PUERTO RICO - ARGENTINA 78-80

Argentina handed the first loss to Puerto Rico on FIBA Americas Championship in San Juan. The game is decided with 4 seconds remaining, when Pablo Prigioni scored 2 free throws for Argentina. Carmelo Lee tried for 3, but he missed and Puerto Rico faced with 78-80 loss. With this victory Argentina jumped to 5-1 record. The host of this event is on the same numbers, while Brazil is currently No.1 undefeated (6-0). Luis Scola once again was unstoppable collecting 25 points and 12 rebounds. Leonardo Gitierez had 12 and Pablo Prigioni added 11 pts, plus 12 assists. Puerto Rico got 19 points from Larry Elias AYuso. Carlos Arroyo had 18 pts and 8 assists. Tomorrow, Brazil will meet Puerto Rico. With this victory Argentina booked a spot for the Semifinals and at the same time for 2010 FIBA World Championship in Turkey.
