Qualifying Round Day 9: BRAZIL - PUERTO RICO 82-86

There are no more undefeated teams in San Juan as Brazil finally failed, after impressive winning streak. It means that now Brazil, Puerto Rico and Argentina have the same 6-1 score, but in this ‘circle’ Brazilians have the best score and they grabbed position No.1. Puerto Rico is No.2 and Argentina No.3 All three teams booked a spot for Semifinals and also for the 2010 FIBA World Championship in Turkey. Larry Elias Ayuso stepped up for the hosts with 25 points and 5 rebounds. Angel Daniel Vassallo scored 20 and Carlos Arroyo added 16 pts, 5 boards and 6 assists. Anderson Varejao responded with double-double in defeat, 22 pts and 10 rebounds. Tiago Splitter had 19 pts and 8 boards, while Marcelinho Machado posted 15 pts. Leandrinho Barbosa did not play in this game.
