Regular Season Round 10: Groningen - Leeuwarden 95-70

The GasTerra Flames improved their record to 9-1 with a solid 95-70 win over DeFriesland Aris. The GasTerra Flames led for most of the game but DeFriesland Aris was a very scrappy team and hung in for the first three quarters but the Flames pulled away in the fourth quarter. The lead changed hands several times in an exciting first quarter, which saw the Flames claim a 22-17 advantage. DeFriesland Aris trailed by six (47-41) at half-time but produced an excellent third-quarter effort. In the thirdt quarter DeFriesland Aris pulled back the deficit 51-50 but saw the hosts take a four-point advantage (59-55) into the final stanza. After four minutes in the final quarter, the Flames lead with 74-65 and by this time the Flames were totally dominant on the boards with Jason Ellis (13 total rebounds), and Steve Ross (201-G/F-80, agency: Court Side, college: Santa Clara) clearing everything from around the ring and choking the oppositions offence. The Flames scored points in a variety of ways including points off offensive rebounds, fast-break points and draining open 3-point shots, the lead swelled to 95-70. The Flames were paced by Jason Dourisseau with 20 points. Robby Bostain added 16 points followed by Steve Ross with 13 and Matt Bauscher with 12 points and seven assists, while Jason Ellis added 12 points and 13 rebounds. Darryl Monroe led DeFriesland Aris in scoring with 23 points along with six rebounds. Tristan Blackwood added 18 points while Jayme Miller had 16 points. (by Fred Roggen)
