Regular Season Round 6: Guaynabo - Arecibo 81-90

With 32 points from sharp shooter Larry Ayuso, the Arecibo Captains topped the Guaynabo Mets 90-81. It was dub as the return of Angel Buster Figueroa to the Arecibo Captains Arena. Figueroa who had played for some years for the Captains was returning for the first time to his prior teams arena . He had always been a fan favorite due to his hardnosed play. Both teams played at an even level as the quarter came to an end with the Captains leading by the minimum 14-13. The Captains went on a 13-0 run in the 2nd quarter to take a 14 point lead with 6:34 left in the half. A 3pointer from Samuel Villegas stopped the bleeding in the quarter. Although the Mets close the gap to just 6 points, the Captains would have another offensive run in them as with 59 seconds left in the half were once again leading by 12 points, 38-26. The half came to an end with the Captains in the lead 41-28. In the 3rd quarter both teams once again played at an even level, but the Mets were not able to make inroads into the Captains lead which was 12 points 66-54. In the 4th the Mets went on a 5-0 run to start the quarter to cut the Captains let to just 7 points with 8:32 left in the game. The Mets made consecutive baskets to further cut the Captains lead to just 4 points 68-64 with 7:45 to go. The Captains came right back with Larry Ayuso (190-G-77, agency: Global Sports Plaza, college: USC) making consecutive baskets to extend the lead for good. For Arecibo, Larry Ayuso scored 32 points while Angelo Reyes followed up with 15 points and 13 rebounds. For Guaynabo, Angel Figueroa scored 19 points followed by Glen McGowan with 16 points. *by Luis Ramirez
