Martini Plaza, Saturday night, May 15, 2010 - GasTerra Flames posted a 89-65 victory over WCAA Giants in the first game of the Dutch Playoffs Final. Tim Blue had 23 points, and snapped out of a shooting funk to lead the GasTerra Flames to a 89-65 victory in Game 1 in the first playoff game in the Dutch playoffs Final. The game started off rather slowly, with both sides failing to register any baskets for the first couple of minutes. However, WCAA Giants eventually opened the scoring in quick succession to pull away from their opponents (3-8). GasTerra Flames were evidently the better side throughout the match, exhibiting impressive organisation and spirited attempts to intercept the ball. WCAA Giants were largely unable to penetrate the solid GasTerra Flames defence and trailed 16-12 at the end of the first quarter. The Flames continued to dominate the game in the second quarter, outscoring WCAA Giants by fourteen points to bring the scoreline to 41-23 at the half. In the third quarter, GasTerra Flames maximised their advantage to intercept the passes of the WCAA Giants players and outscored the Giants in each of the first three quarters. They finished the quarter with a lead of 67-41 and cruised to a convincing win . WCAA Giants tried too fought back in the last quarter of the game, scoring two baskets in quick succession. However, this proved to be of no avail as GasTerra Flames eventually pulled away, with Tim Blue (23) and Steve Ross (17) scoring spectacular dunks on their way to a 89-65 victory. *by Fred Roggen
