Finals Game 4: Olympiacos - Panathinaikos 69-76

Panathinaikos defended the championship title in Greece. The Greens celebrated in Game Four 69-76 wining the series with almost perfect 3-1. Mike Batiste stepped up for the new-old champions with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Vassilis Spanoulis was the second scorer in this victory with 15 points and he also grabbed 5 rebounds beside that. Andrew Nicholas helped with 13 pts. For the home side, Ioannis Bourousis collected 15 pts. Linas Kleiza had 11. It was a game full of incidents and it started with 45 minutes delay. Olympiakos opened the game in style making 19-12 lead after ten minutes of play. Mike Batiste and his teammates woke up immediately and they managed to make a turn in Q2. The Reds scored just 13 points in this period, while PAO on the other side drained 26. Thus, the Greens were 32-38 up at the half time. After the breather, actually in 26th minute, PAO jumped to 42-50 and the hosts called a timeout. During the timeout Olympiakos fans made a big incident and the game was interrupted for one hour. That didn’t help Olympiakos as PAO managed to increase its lead despite all bad things which happened last night. After 30 minutes of play, PAO was 54-63 up. Later, actually with seven minutes remaining in the game, the Greens grabbed double-digit advantage 59-69. At that time it was clear that PAO plays good enough to keep this lead and it seemed that the game will finally come to the end. But that didn’t happen. With something more than one minute to go (69-76 for PAO) Olympiakos fans made another big incident and the referees decided to end this meeting.
