Preliminary Round Day 3: CANADA - COSTA RICA 74-18

Canada finished Preliminary Round in Colorado Springs with perfect 3-0. In Day Three of the FIBA Americas U18 Championship, Canada destroyed Costa Rica 74-18 advancing to Semifinals as No.1 of Group A. At the same time, Canada also booked a spot for 2011 FIBA U19 World Championship in Chile. Michelle Plouffe stepped up for the winners with 13 points and 9 rebounds. She was the MVP of this game with valuation 20. Laura Anne Dally and Cassandra Brown helped with 12 points each. In the loosing squad, Michelle Mayorga was the leading scorer with 7 points. Her Costa Rica ended this stage winless (0-3) and will continue in classification round. Canada was way better team in this game. Michelle Plouffe and her teammates limited Costa Rica to just 12 points in the first half, while they drained 39 on the other side. In Q3, Canada let Costa Rica to score just one single point and in the last ten minutes they were stopped on 5. Canada netted 35 points for the second half registering huge 74-18 victory. Canada will meet Brazil in the Semifinals. Costa Rica will take on Argentina in Classification Games for 5-8 places.
