Preliminary Round Day 3: CHILE - MEXICO 65-63

Chile grabbed thriller win against Mexico in Day Three of the FIBA Americas U18 Championship. That was the crucial game for both teams as they had 1-1 score in Group A before this meeting. Thanks to this victory, Chileans are No.2 is this pool now and they advanced to Semifinals. At the same time, Chile booked a regular ticket for 2011 FIBA U19 World Championship. They would participate at this event anyway as they will be the hosts. Fernanda Serrano and Cynthia Bascunan stepped up for the winners with 17 points each. They had 7 and 6 rebounds respectively. Javiera Morales also was great last night as she added 16 points and 12 boards. In Mexico, Ana Noriega shined with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Laura Nunez also had double-double in this game: 16 points and 15 boards. Everything started good for Mexico, who made 11-13 lead after ten minutes of play. Until the half time, Ana Noriega and her teammates jumped to decent 23-27. Picture on the court change after the breather as it was Chile who dominated at that time. Chile finished Q3 with 23-18 for 46-45 turn. In thriller finish they were more focused, having a more sports luck as well, to celebrate 65-63 victory. In the Semifinals, Chile will meet powerful USA. Mexico will play against Puerto Rico in classification games for 5-8 places.
