Regular Season Day 1: BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS - U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS 59-50

The British Virgins Islands had a great start in Santo Domingo. It was a Day One of Centrobasket Championsip 2010 and British Virgin Islands were too strong for U.S. Virgin Islands 59-50. Both teams are placed to Preliminary Group A, together with Dominican Republic, Panama and Jamaica. Halstaed Chiverton shined for the winners in this meeting with 23 points. Kennedy Bass followed him with 14 pts and 6 boards. Steve Parllon helped with double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds. In the loosing squad, Walter Hodge collected 16 points and 6 rebs. He was the only ISV player with double-digits in scoring. Teams were totally leveled at the beginning and they finished first period with 14-14 tie. Halstaed Chiverton and his teammates improved in the next quarter stopping ISV to just 10 points for ten minutes. On the other side, they had 15 for 29-14 HT lead. After the breather, IVB continued in the same rhythm and we can say that third quarter was the crucial one. IVB players finished it with 20-12 for nice 13-point lead before the last ten minutes. That last period belonged to ISV, but they needed a way more in order to avoid loss in Day One of the Centrobasket championship. In Day Two, the British Virgin Islands will meet Panama. The U.S. Virgin Islands will have a day off.
