Second win for Belize in Santo Domingo. With this victory Belize jumped on top of the Preliminary Group B with 2-1 record. At the same time, Cuba dropped to 1-1 in the same pool. Alex Carcamo stepped up for the winners with double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds. Richard Troyer also was great adding 21 pts and 10 boards. Milton Palacio was another player with double-double in Belize: 15 pts and 12 assists. Palacio was the MVP of this meeting with valuation 26. In Cuba, Orestes Torres collected 18 pts and 7 boards, while Allen Jemmott scored 17. Cuba was better team at the beginning as they made 21-18 lead in the first ten minutes. However, Belize drastically improved in the second period. Alex Carcamo and his teammates scored 27 pts, while they stopped Cuba to 15 for 36-45 turn at the half time. In third period Belize jumped to plus 12 and was on the right way to victory. Both teams were good offensively in the last quarter, which once again belonged to Belize (24-28) for the final 78-94 win. Belize will have a day-off on Friday. On the other side, Cuba will meet Puerto Rico.
