Dominican Republic blasted British Virgin Islands for perfect 3-0 record in Group A. With this win the Dominicans already booked a spot for Semifinals. At the same time, IVB faced with elimination as they registered just one win in four appearances. Charlie Villanueva shined for the hosts with 28 points and 5 rebounds. He drained 6 triples in this game and was the MVP with valuation 27. Jack Michael Martinez helped Dominicans with 12 points and 11 rebounds. They did not have any other player with double-digits in scoring. In the loosing squad, Trevon Lewis delivered 11 points. Kleon Penn had 10 pts and 11 boards. Dominicans opened the game strongly making impressive 23-9 lead in the first quarter. Their defense looked great and British Virgin Islands couldn’t do anything about that. Charlie Villanueva and his teammates stopped IVB to 11 points in the second period, while they scored 19 on the other side. Thus, after 20 minutes of play Dominicans were already 42-20 up and the game winner was decided. Third period also belonged to the hosts (21-14) and in the last one they increased their advantage even more (22-13) for the final 85-47 win. In the last day of Preliminary Round, Dominican Republic will meet the U.S. Virgin Islands.
