Regular Season Day 4: JAMAICA - U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS 71-65

Jamaica made a big step forward to Semifinals in Santo Domingo. Jamaicans were better than the U.S. Virgin Islands 71-65 jumping to 2-1 in Preliminary Group A. On the other side, ISV dropped to 1-2. Garfield Blair was the leading player in victory with 27 points and 5 rebounds. He was the MVP of this game as well with valuation 26. Kimani Ffriend helped his team with double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Akeem Scott added 15 pts. In ISV, Walter Hodge top-scored with 19 points. Frank Elegar added 16 pts and 14 rebounds. Jamaica did a great job in the first half against the ISV. Garfield Blair and his teammates made nice 20-13 lead in the first ten minutes and were in control. In the second period Jamaica stopped ISV on just 10 pts, while scoring 18 on the other side for comfortable 38-23 lead at the HT. Third frame was pretty leveled as ISV slightly improved their defense and won this period 12-13. ISV shined in the last ten minutes (21-29), but they needed a way more in order to make a turn in this game. At the end, it is totally deserved 71-65 victory for Jamaica. In the last day of Preliminary Round Jamaica will meet Panama. ISV will play against Dominican Republic.
