Regular Season Day 4: PUERTO RICO - CUBA 73-51

Puerto Rico registered second straight win in Santo Domingo. This time Puerto Ricans outplayed Cuba 73-51 for 2-1 record in Group B. Carlos Arroyo came up with 16 points, shooting 4 of 6 from behind the arc. Renaldo Balkman helped with double-double of 11 points and 14 rebounds. Balkman was the most valuable player in this game with valuation 19. Nathan Peavy added 10 pts and 5 boards in this win. In Cuba, Yoan Luis Haiti collected 9 points and 9 rebounds, while Yordanis Jaca also scored 9 pts, but to go with 7 boards. Cuba dropped to 1-2 in the same group. Puerto Rico was a way better team in this game. They won every single quarter and had no troubles to register comfortable victory. In the first ten minutes Puerto Ricans created 20-16 lead. Both teams slowed down offensively in the second frame, which once again belonged to PUR (12-9). Puerto Rico had nice third period (20-14) jumping to comfortable 13-point lead after it. There was ten minutes to go and question about the winner was already resolved. Puerto Rico was in control finishing Q4 with 21-12 for 22-point win at the end. In the last day of Preliminary Round, Puerto Rico will play against Belize. Cuba will meet Trinidad and Tobago.
