Semi-Finals Game 6: PUERTO RICO - PANAMA 77-70

Puerto Rico advanced to Centrobasket Finals after they beat Panama 77-70 in the Semis. So after a bad start and defeat in their first appearance, Puerto Ricans managed to beat all their rivals. Panama, who failed in this game, will meet Cuba in the battle for third place. Carlos Arroyo was the leading player in victory with 23 points and 5 assists. Jose Juan Barea was the second scorer in Puerto Rico with 22 pts. Peter John Ramos this time helped with 14 points and 10 boards. In Panama, Jose Lloreda shined with 20 points and 11 boards. Danilo Pinnock had 19 pts and 9 rebs. Puerto Rico had a strong start in this Semifinal game. Carlos Arroyo and his teammates drained 23 points for 10 minutes, while stopping Panamanians to 13. However, Panama shined in the second period and closed the gap to 39-34 until the half time. Panama was still on high level in Q3 as they finished it with 20-23 and everything was open again. Puerto Rico had to work very hard until the end in order to finish the last period with 18-13 and to reach the Centrobasket Finals. The Big Final is scheduled for Monday, as well as the game for third place.
