Regular Season Day 3: GUATEMALA - PUERTO RICO 53-87

Puerto Rico registered another easy win in Mayaguez. That is third straight victory for them for the perfect score and position No.1 in Group B at the end of the Preliminary Round. Thus, Puerto Rico will meet Mexico in the Semifinals. We have Guatemala on the other side, who finished as No.3 in this group with 1-2 score and will go to the Classification Round for 5th to 8th place. Jazmine Sepulveda led the winners with 16 points and 8 rebounds (valuation 27). Angiely Morales had 14 points and 6 boards, while Stephanie Rosado added 13 points and 11 boards. In Guatemala, Maria Fleischmann collected 18 points and 7 boards. Blanca Amado had 10 pts. Puerto Rico did a great job in the first half. Jazmine Sepulveda and her teammates finished Q1 with excellent 6-27. They continued in the same rhythm and finished the second quarter 7-21 for impressive 13-47 HT lead. Question about the winner was already resolved. Despite that fact, Puerto Rico had nice third quarter as well. They finished with 15-24 and than slowed down. Guatemala used that to cut the margin a little but and that was all from them. Both Semifinals games are scheduled for Tuesday. Guatemala will meet the U.S. Virgin Islands at the same day (Classification Round).
