Jamaica outsmarted Trinidad and Tobago in very exciting game and advanced to the Big Final in Mayaguez. Jamaica celebrated 62-59 in the Semis and will fight for the Gold against Puerto Rico. On the other hand, Trinidad and Tobago will play against Mexico for third place. Simone Edwards stepped up for the winners with 17 points and 13 rebounds. She was the MVP of this meeting with valuation 24. Tajay Ashmeade was the second scorer in Jamaica with 12 pts (6 rebs). Nicole Louden (10 rebs, 6 as) and Vanessa Gidden (5 rebs) added 11 points each. In defeat, Thea Codio was good with 16 points and 8 assists. Sharmion Selman scored 12 points. Jamaica was better team in the first, while Trinidad and Tobago shined in the second half. Jamaica made 15-11 lead in the first ten minutes and looked good. The same score was registered in the second period as well, thus Jamaica was 30-22 up at the half time. Trinidad and Tobago entered to the second half with totally different attitude. They managed to close the gap to 5 points before the last ten minutes. Trinidad and Tobago seriously threatened in the finish, but Jamaica players were focused and managed to keep their lead. The Big Final, as well as the game for third place, are scheduled for Wednesday.
