Finals Game 9: SERBIA - LATVIA 49-75

Latvia grabbed Bronze in the border-country Lithuania at the U18 European Championship at Siemens Arena in Vilnius. In the game for the third place the Baltic state rolled over Serbia 75:49. Latvia actually responded for a big loss yesterday from Russia. Serbia however started better and finished the opening quarter with 16:14 lead. Helmanis from the perimeter brought the lead back to Latvia and Rostovs gave them 27:24. Rostovs closed the half at 30:28 for the Baltic State. Petkovic pulled back Serbia to 31:30 but it was the last lead for his team. With a 12-0 run Latvia reached 50:38 advantage and Misters scored for 52:40. Bogdanovic remained Serbia alive at 55:43 after three quarters. The last quarter however belonged only to one team as Latvia limited Serbia to just 6 points. The winners meanwhile scored 20 for the big win. Vecvagars scored the last points for the winners to taste bronze of the U18 European Championship. Bertans top-scored for the winners with 24 points. Vecvagars poured in 13, while Helmanis scored 10. Bogdanovic finished the night with 12 points in the losing effort. Dumic and Petkovic notched 9 apiece as Serbia is 4th at the tournament.
