Not a big story in a game in Poza Rica where 14th ranked Abejas (13-23) were defeated by eleventh ranked Ola Verde (15-15) 101-97. Strangely Abejas outrebounded Ola Verde 44-31 including 30 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by Dominican power forward Elys Guzman (206-82, college: Bemidji St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 29 points, 17 rebounds and 7 assists and Bahamas forward Aaron Eneas (202-78, agency: Promotex) supported him with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Even 21 points and 9 rebounds by forward George Travis did not help to save the game for Abejas. American guard Steve Monreal (180, college: Cal.St.-Monterey) added 24 points and 5 assists for the guests. Five Ola Verde and four Abejas players scored in double figures. Despite that victory Ola Verde went down to twelfth position due to points difference. Abejas at the other side keep the fourteenth place with 23 games lost. Ola Verde's next round opponent will be higher ranked Huracanes (#8) in Tampico and it may be quite challenging game. Abejas will play at home against Titanes (#16) in Mexico City and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
