Tuesday night in the Martiniplaza, the defending Dutch champions GasTerra Flames Groningen had their hands full with fiesty Magixx KidsRights Nijmegen, needing overtime and timely three-pointers to hold back Magixx's upset bid, winning by the score of 81-75. It was a game that was tight from start to finish, with both teams shooting poorly from both the three-point line (Gas Terra 9 of 33, Magixx 2 of 12) and the free throw line (Gas Terra 14 of 28, Magixx 23 of 39), and Gas Terra had their entire inside game on the bench at the end of regulation, with Matt Haraysz and Jason Ellis fouling out, and John Turek was missing in action. Henry Bekkering would also foul out as well. But in overtime three of the made Flames' three-pointers came at the right time, first with Jason Dourisseau's three-pointer at 3:12 giving the Flames the lead for good at 70-68, then followed by three-pointers from Steve Ross and Matt Bauscher. The guests would not be able to come up with an answer, with another Dourisseau score the icing on the cake. Matt Bauscher led the Flames with 15 pts., followed by Dourisseau and Ellis with 14 pts. each. Markel Humphrey led the guests and all scorers with 22 pts., and Brian Laing added 20 pts.
