Regular Season Round 2: Taipans - 36ers 85-74

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Adelaide 36ers (5-9) were defeated on the road by third ranked Cairns Taipans (9-4) 85-74. Center Ian Crosswhite (212-82, college: Oregon) notched 17 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international power forward Alexander Loughton (205-83, college: ODU) supported him with 20 points. Four Cairns Taipans players scored in double figures. Even 16 points and 7 rebounds by the former international forward Adam Ballinger (205-79, college: Michigan St.) did not help to save the game for Adelaide 36ers. American guard Troy DeVries (193-82, college: N.Mexico) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the guests. Cairns Taipans has a solid three-game winning streak. Despite that victory Cairns Taipans went down to fourth position due to points difference. Adelaide 36ers at the other side dropped to the seventh place with nine games lost. Cairns Taipans' next round opponent will be Gold Coast Blaze (#6) in Broadbeach. Adelaide 36ers will play at home against Wollongong Hawks in Gwynneville and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
