Regular Season Round 8: Leiden - Groningen 62-80
Date: October 30, 2010
In Leiden in the marquee GasTerra Flames-ZZ Leiden matchup, a run of 18-3 run midway through the final quarter was the antidote for the defending Dutch champions, with an impressive team performance en route to winning 80-62. It was around the end of the 1st half that the defending Dutch champions began to take control of the mental edge. The bench would provide sparks (28-13 scoring advantage) and timely three-point makes from Jason Dourisseau, Robby Bostain and Steve Ross also kept ZZ Leiden on their heels. At one point Donar led 58-55 at 8:04 in the 4th quarter, and the run started with a Ross three-pointer and the lead snowballed to 76-58 with a John Turek score to make it 76-58 at 1:27. At that point it was all she wrote for ZZ Leiden. The Flames had balanced scoring, five players in double figures, led by surging Ross and Bostain with 13 pts. each. T.J. Jackson led all scorers with 16 pts. Gas Terra Flames are now 8-0 while ZZ Leiden falls to 4-3. *by Sanders Jackson
