Regular Season Round 7: Sacramento K. - Toronto R. 111-108
Date: November 1, 2010
There are cruel lessons to learn over the course of a long NBA season and the Raptors learned a hard one here Monday night. They weren’t ready to handle a close game in the dying minutes. Blowing a lead as big as 16 points, the Raptors fell 111-108 to the Sacramento Kings at Arco Arena, fading badly in the final six minutes of an entertaining game. Despite 28 points from Andrea Bargnani and 19 rebounds from Reggie Evans, the Raptors couldn’t close the deal and fell to 1-2 on the season. With a clutch three by Bargnani and two free throws by DeMar DeRozan, the Raptors cut the deficit to three with 20 seconds remaining. They cut it to one with 13.3 seconds left on a monster baseline dunk by DeRozan, who played his best game of the season and finished with 24 points. Two Beno Udrih free throws made it a three-point game with 12.2 seconds left, giving the Raptors – who had run out of timeouts – one last chance to tie. However, they didn’t get a good look at a shot as Linas Kleiza missed a runner on Sam Dalembert, Leandro Barbosa couldn’t covert a put back and Sacramento ran out the game. *Courtesy of www.thestar.com
