Regular Season Round 16: Memphis G. - Dallas M. 91-106

Date: November 10, 2010
The unraveling began when Shawn Marion found a loose string on the Grizzlies' ragged defense soon after the second half began. Marion, the Dallas Mavericks' high-flying forward, found every seam with the help of Jason Kidd and sailed through gaping holes on his way to the basket. If Marion and the Mavericks weren't cruising toward the rim for layups, they were throwing down dunks. When the third quarter mercifully came to an end, the Griz had been rendered defenseless. They looked demoralized, too, as the Mavericks built a 19-point lead before sending the Griz to a 106-91 loss Wednesday night in FedExForum. Dallas dominated the third by making nine of its first 11 field goals off layups or dunks. The Mavs won the quarter, 31-19, and were clearly the aggressors much of the night as they avenged a one-point loss to the Griz on Oct. 29 in Dallas. Jason Kidd, collected six of his game-high 12 assists in that decisive third quarter, and sat comfortably on the Mavs' bench in the final frame. Jason Terry led Dallas with 25 points off the bench, and Marion added 20. Zach Randolph's 23 points and nine rebounds led the Grizzlies, who looked out of sync on both ends of the court. Rudy Gay finished with 18 points and nine rebounds but shot 8 of 18 from the field. *Courtesy of www.commercialappeal.com
