Regular Season Round 18: Minnesota T. - New York K. 112-103
Date: November 12, 2010
Someone forgot to tell the Knicks to put a body on Kevin Love. That same person should have reminded Amar'e Stoudemire to start playing like an All-Star and could have mentioned to his teammates that launching mindless 3-pointers will get them nowhere. If you're looking for the most improbable loss - and arguably the worst - of the Mike D'Antoni era, this is it. File this one under the category of disgraceful. The Knicks blew a 21-point third-quarter lead Friday night and were absolutely manhandled by the combination of Love and exiled Miami Heat forward .Michael Beasley as the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves rallied for a 112-103 victory. "This is tough to stomach," D'Antoni said after his team lost its fourth straight game. "Took too many quick shots. We turned it over and Kevin Love killed us on the boards. You name it, we did it. This one is tough to swallow." The Knicks now find themselves in their first mini-crisis since signing Stoudemire to a $100 million contract last July. Foul trouble limited Stoudemire to 28 minutes, but with Stoudemire on the court for the entire fourth quarter, the Knicks were outscored 32-16. Love apparently loves to hit the glass, as the burly forward finished with 31 points and 31 rebounds. Yes, that's 31 rebounds - or 12 fewer than the entire Knicks team. Love isn't in the air. He can barely jump over the Sunday newspaper. But he uses his wide frame, long arms and instincts to hold his own under the boards. He became the first player to post a 30-30 since Moses Malone did it for the Sixers in 1982. *Courtesy of www.nydailynews.com
