Qualifying Round Round 3: JORDAN - MONGOLIA 79-64

Mongolia put up a good fight but eventually came up short against Jordan at the Asian Games in China. Jordan thus improved at 2-1 record in Group E. Mongolia suffered the second loss in three games played. Ali Zaghab was pivotal for Jordan with 17 points and 19 rebounds. Jordan strongly entered the game as they led 12:6 midway through the opening frame. But Mongolia quickly picked up the pace and narrowed the deficit at just three points at the first break 14:17. Jordan opened the second stanza on an 8:2 rally to clear off. They kept Mongolia at bay posting a 35:23 halftime advantage. Jordan boosted the lead in the third stanza. They enjoyed a 16-point advantage before Mongolia turned things around once again. They capped the period with a 14:4 run to narrow the deficit at just 6-point mark. The teams exchanged the baskets in the final term but Jordan made the late run and escaped with a difficult win at the end. Ahmad Alhamarsheh and Mahd Abdeen contributed 13 points each for Jordan. Nidal Alsharif provided 12 points for the winners. Otgonmunkh Munkhtar and Sanchir Tungalag answered with 12 points apiece for Mongolia. Oyuntsetseg had 9 points in the losing effort.
