Qualifying Round Round 4: JAPAN - QATAR 87-88

Qatar celebrated a tough narrow victory over Japan at Asian Games. Qatar came from behind in the final quarter and snatched a one-point win to improve at 3-1 record in Group F. They thus caught up with Japan in the standings. Targuy Ngombo unloaded game-high 33 points, grabbed 6 boards and issued 3 assists to pace the winners. Japan looked well-balanced and organized as always early in the game. They tipped off the encounter with an 18:7 run. Japan maintained the lead as they enjoyed a 26:21 advantage at the first break. But Qatar gradually started to find the rhythm. They narrowed the gap at 4-point mark at halftime 45:49. Qatar got within striking distance in the third term. They trailed by only two points at the final intermission. Japan kept in front for almost the whole final period but it was Qatar who sneaked past their opponents to the final victory. Yasseen Musa delivered 19 points for Qatar. Saad Abdulrahman Ali contributed 8 points in the win. Hiroyuki Kinoshita replied with 23 points for Japan. Takumi Ishizaki netted 16 points in the loss.
