South Korea suffered the first loss at the Asian Games in Guangzhou. They surrendered against the hosts. China improved at 4-0 record with the win, while South Korea slipped at 3-1 in Group E. Yue Sun came up with 19 points, 6 boards and 3 assists to lead the winners. China led early in the encounter but could not maintain the advantage. South Korea pulled in front late in the stanza taking a 22:19 lead after ten minutes. China quickly replied early in the second term as they regained the initiative. The hosts arrived at the main break up by three points 38:35. China stretched the lead to 9 points in the third term. The home team enjoyed a 59:53 cushion heading into the fourth stanza. China looked calm as they did not allow South Korea too close in the final period. Robert Donewald team stayed in charge and eventually celebrated yet another victory at the tournament. Wang ZhiZhi notched 15 points and 7 rebounds. Ding Jinhui provided 10 points in the victory. Kim Joo-Sung replied with 18 points for South Korea. Lee Seung-Jun netted 13 points in the losing effort.
