Qualifying Round Round 5: INDIA - JAPAN 58-85

Japan earned a well-awaited victory over India in the final game of the preliminary round at Asian Games. Japan thus improved at 4-1 record and won Group F. They will now fight with DPR Korea for the spot in the semifinal. India finished the round at 0-5 record at the bottom of the standings. Japan obviously saved energy for the upcoming contest in this one. They started the game slowly allowing India to stick around. Japan led by just four points ten minutes into the encounter. The tempo increased the second frame. Japan managed to boost the lead as they were up by 11 points at halftime. India cut the deficit at just 7 points midway through the third term. They did not allow Japan to clear off trailing by 11 points prior to the fourth frame. But Japan eventually proved the strength. They exploded with 28 points in the fourth quarter and ran away for a comfortable win at the end. Hiroyuki Kinoshita knocked down 13 points for Japan. Yuta Tabuse and Ken Takeda added 11 points apiece in the win. Vishesh Bhriguvanshi replied with game-high 15 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Prakash Mishra accounted for 11 points in the loss.
