Iran eased into Asian Games semifinal. They outmuscled Jordan at the quarterfinal stage of the tournament tonight. Hamed Afagh tallied 17 points and 5 rebounds to orchestrate victory for Veselin Matic side. Iran and Jordan traded baskets early in the encounter. Iran however went on a 12:5 run late in the period and grabbed a 20:11 advantage. Hamed Afagh and Mahdi Kamrani opened a double-digit advantage for the Iranian side in the second quarter. Jordan accounted for only 6 points in the period allowing Iran to clear off to a 15-point distance 32:17. Iran got a firm grip on the lead. They stayed well in control throughout the third quarter. Iran ensured a 48:33 advantage before the fourth period. Jordan failed to get any closer in the final stanza as Iran breezed to the victory at the end. Mahdi Kamrani produced 16 points for the winners. Asghar Kardoust had 15 points and 15 rebounds for Iran. Abdullah Abuqoura delivered 11 points and 8 rebounds for Jordan. Ali Zaghab netted 7 points in the loss.
