Finals Game 8: PHILIPPINES - QATAR 71-81

Qatar crowned their Asian Games campaign with victory. They defeated Philippines to finish in the fifth overall position. Targuy Ngombo delivered 25 points and 12 rebounds for Qatar in this one. The teams stayed close in the opening frame. They exchanged baskets and the scoreboard read 17:17 at the first break. Qatar pulled ahead early in the second period but not for too long. A roller-coaster action continued as Philippines pulled in front and posted a 39:36 lead at the interval. Philippines maintained the lead throughout the third quarter. They entered the fourth stanza up by as many as 4 points 64:60. But a disastrous start to the fourth term did not allow Philippines to succeed. Qatar went on a 16:3 run early in the final quarter to leave their opponents behind. Qatar did not surrender the advantage in the reminder of the contest and raced to the victory at the end. Baker Ahmad Mohammed produced 19 points and 10 rebounds for Qatar. Khalid Suliman Abdi netted 17 points in the victory. Kelly Williams replied with 20 points for Philippines. Asi Taulava provided 13 points and 19 rebounds in the losing case.
